OVERVIEW

Harrang Long Gary Rudnick P.C. has offices in Eugene, Portland, and Salem, Oregon. Our mission is to provide high-quality counsel, leadership, and practical solutions regarding law and related disciplines, by working collaboratively with our clients, who are involved in business, insurance, finance, technology, health care, and government. We believe in defining our success from our clients’ perspectives, achieving it promptly, effectively, and ethically.

That means we focus on our clients, not merely on what we would like our firm to become. Because the legal and economic climate facing our clients becomes more complex each year, we strive to maintain a team of lawyers and other professionals with the specialized skills and experience needed to solve problems in a cost-effective manner. For our larger clients, we offer special expertise in managing all of their legal services, helping them use those services efficiently and effectively.

We have a strong tradition of professional excellence, high standards, and broad social responsibility. We promote a work environment that is interesting, rewarding, supportive, and enjoyable for a diverse work force. Although we are a smaller firm by metropolitan standards, we have a history of representing clients in significant matters involving complex legal and factual situations.

ASSOCIATE TRAINING AND EVALUATION

  • Each associate is assigned to a supervisor, who is principally responsible for work flow, for ensuring appropriate feedback, and for annual evaluations. Evaluations are conducted throughout the year, rather than at year’s end, to focus on offering assistance in improving each associate’s practice skills rather than merely on compensation and advancement issues. Associates are encouraged to select a senior lawyer as a mentor.
  • Our training and development committee supervises the training and professional education needs of all our attorneys, promoting participation in both in-firm and outside CLE seminars. Practice groups have meetings for professional development and skill improvement on a regular basis as appropriate to each group.

ENCOURAGING DIVERSITY

  • One of our key internal goals is creating an atmosphere which is both inviting and supportive of attorneys with differing backgrounds and interests. We represent over fifteen law schools and seek actively to recruit attorneys and staff whose common bond is excellence in delivering legal services, but who otherwise have varied talents, experiences, and passions. Particularly for a firm of significant size, the firm has one of the highest percentages of women shareholders and associates in the region.
