ADMINISTRATIVE LAW |
|||||
Administrative agencies of the federal, state and local government regulate the commercial, professional and personal activities of us all. We expertly represent our clients in obtaining and maintaining government approval of their products, permits and licenses. We work collaboratively with our clients, and the associations to which they belong, to secure workable administrative agency rules, regulations, and interpretations to head off confrontations that lead to litigation. When litigation is warranted, however, we aggressively defend our clients' prerogatives before quasi-judicial administrative agencies, and in the trial and appellate courts that conduct judicial review of administrative agency orders and regulations. We frequently represent employers against unemployment and discrimination claims. We regularly represent licensed professionals - doctors, engineers, teachers and other lawyers - in professional responsibility proceedings. We often work to resolve disputes between various governmental units. Jim Mountain, formerly the Deputy Attorney General of Oregon and the Solicitor General at the Oregon Department of Justice, leads this practice, with more than 20 years of experience as legal counsel to individuals and organizations on their legal rights and responsibilities in relation to government.
