John Cathcart Rake is an associate with the firm’s Litigation department.
John is admitted to practice in Oregon, the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, and U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Owen M. Panner Inn of Court, the Oregon State Bar, and the Multnomah Bar Association (MBA). He serves on the MBA Young Lawyers Section Pro Bono Committee and also volunteers for the MBA’s Imprint Program, which seeks to help middle school and high school students connect with attorneys and develop writing and analytical skills.
John earned a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Kansas, graduating with highest distinction. He graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School, magna cum laude, receiving a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. John served as an associate editor of Environmental Law and wrote for the Ninth Circuit Review, summarizing significant appellate decisions relating to administrative, environmental, natural resources, and public lands law.
