Jeff Matthews has 20 years of litigation experience, primarily as defense counsel. Jeff’s practice focuses on helping private entities and individuals with a variety of commercial and business related disputes, including shareholder, sale of business, commercial lease, real estate, and construction defect disputes, as well as any variety of tort claims. Jeff also represents private and government employers in defense of employment related claims. He regularly appears in numerous state and federal courts, as well as before a variety of government or administrative agencies. With his familiarity with Oregon federal court practices, Jeff is also able to effectively assist out-of-state attorneys as local counsel in federal court actions.

Jeff’s sense of humor and quick wit make him a pleasure to work with and his intellect and preparation make him a worthy adversary. When not working on a trial or settlement on behalf of his clients, Jeff (a native Oregonian) enjoys hunting, hiking, and spending time with his extended family.

Jeff is admitted to the Oregon, Washington and Missouri state bars. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the Lane County Bar Association as well as the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, the Roland K. Rodman American Inn of Court, and the Oregon City Attorneys Association.

Education

Jeff graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1989, where he was a member of the Law Review. He also served a judicial clerkship with the Hon. Scott O. Wright, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
